Charlotte Dodson – the preferred yoga teacher to Australia’s top models.
Australian born Miranda Kerr may have adopted New York as her home, but the svelte Victoria’s
Secret still chooses to practice yoga with Australian-based yoga teacher Charlotte Dodson.
Why you ask? Because Charlotte Dodson customizes yoga routines to suit the model’s
busy lifestyle and often hectic international schedule.
As a dynamic hatha and kundalini specialist, Charlotte Dodson says eight years of training have
shown her the many benefits of private one-on-one consultation.
With a background in yoga teaching and study from India and London to Sydney and New York,
Dodson’s qualifications and experience have helped her attract a high –profile clientele.
“Rather than students sitting in a pose on automatic pilot, I like to progress people,
I always like to keep my classes creative and challenge my students to be present and mindful at
all times,” says Dodson.
This approach has hit a chord with top supermodel Miranda Kerr, who cited Charlotte Dodson as
her favourite teacher when she was in Sydney to shoot a Portman’s campaign in early August.
“With yoga I believe it’s really important who you have as a teacher, to me Charlotte
is the best - her energy is really grounding and nurturing, it has become a part of my
life,” says Miranda Kerr.
Dodson says her business based in Sydney is booming, while her private lessons have taken off
with professionals from the fashion, film and media industry. Thrilled to have a continuing
association with Miranda Kerr, Charlotte emphasizes her holistic approach to the yogic systems
she teaches.
“Once I have established a relationship with any client, I am always keen to keep working with
them.”
“With Miranda I have followed her progression both professionally and in yoga practice. I have
taught her in New York and now I teach her every six weeks when she returns home to shoot
campaigns.”
“But with all my private clients I offer home consultations, I travel abroad with my clients, I
prescribe what they need. I guess you could say I’m flexible!” Dodson says with a smile.
